Clear Aligners to Straighten Teeth

In our practice we use clear aligners to help straighten teeth and correct your bite.  We treat patients of all needs, whether you have had braces in the past and lost your retainer and just need a few trays to get you back where you belong, if you have never straightened your teeth, or you are having pain or hypersensitivity due to having a traumatic occlusion (bite).

Some of the companies we currently work with are:  Invisalign, Sure Smile, and Reveal.  We use a series of custom-made, clear aligners that are worn over the teeth. The clear aligners are created in a series using impressions of your mouth. With a custom-fit, you enjoy a less noticeable and comfortable treatment. There are no protracting wires or brackets as the aligners are smooth.  The clear trays are worn over your teeth for about 22 hours out of the day.  These clear trays should be taken out to eat and drink anything other than water.  Trays are normally worn in one to two week increments before moving on to your next tray.

Veneers

A thin piece of porcelain used to re-create the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel." They are custom made to the contour of your teeth and are bonded to the tooth's original enamel during a series of in-office procedures.

Resin Bonding

Resin bonding is a cosmetic technique wherein a type of dental material – in this case, composite resin – is shaped and molded on your teeth to give the appearance of straighter, whiter smile. It can be used as a cosmetic solution to chipped teeth, gapped teeth and staining in both teeth and fillings. Unlike porcelain veneer placement, which can take more than two visits, composite resin bonding can be completed in one appointment.

ICON White Spot Lesion Reversal

Icon is used for the micro-invasive treatment of smooth surface and proximal caries lesions. It can be used to treat lesions. In one patient visit, and with no drilling, Icon can arrest the progression of early enamel lesions and white spot caries-like lesions.

MI Paste Treatment Series

We are proud to offer a conservative approach to our patients who have enamel fluorosis and do not wish to have their teeth prepped for veneers or crowns to cover up their enamel fluorosis for a quick fix.

During this treatment series, we make custom carrier trays for our patients to wear on a nightly basis over the weeks from the start to finish of their treatment. MI paste is worn in the carrier trays on a nightly basis. We recommend between 4-7 short 10 min appointments with us at about 2-4 weeks apart . At these appointments, we polish the teeth, place an agent on the teeth to allow the MI paste to better penetrate the fluorosis lesions, rinse it off and then apply a thin layer of MI paste for 5 minutes before having our patient wear their carrier trays home. Treatment is tailored toward the severity of fluorosis and on a case by case basis.

Fluorosis can occur in teeth when a higher than recommended amount of fluoride is consumed while the teeth are forming. It causes the teeth to have “White spot lesions” and in more severe case can have areas of brown, yellow, and white spots on the surfaces of enamel.

This method relies on the active ingredient in MI paste called Recaldent which acts to remineralize enamel from the inside out. Those with milk protein or hydroxybenzoate allergies should not use any form of MI paste due to these allergens being present in the toothpaste.

Internal Bleaching
Very frequently, you may notice one tooth does not look like the others in terms of shade. It may look darker or more discolored in shades of yellow or brown. This is frequently because the nerve inside of the tooth has died or has a history of having a root canal.

Internal bleaching is performed by placing a whitening agent directly inside of the tooth you wish to whiten. You can notice results in as little as a week and over the course of a few weeks depending on how many times you and your dentist feel it is necessary. Appointments for placing the bleaching agent are relatively short. While the bleaching material is inside of your tooth, you will have a temporary filling over the biting surface of the tooth until bleaching is finished, after which time a final filling will be placed to cover the opening where the bleaching material was placed inside of the tooth. Not all cases are a candidate for internal bleaching, please call to schedule a consultation to see what types of bleaching are best for you.
